Scroll Theory Forms vs Formspree

Formspree is the best-known form backend, and it works. So does ours. The real differences are what happens to flagged spam, where conditional routing sits in the pricing, and what a flat $39 covers.

The short version

  • Both give any HTML form a backend with no server code.
  • Our control fields are Formspree-compatible. Switching is a one-line change to your form's action.
  • Our free plan takes 100 submissions a month. Formspree's free plan takes 50, as of this writing.
  • Conditional routing is on our $39 plan. Formspree lists similar routing on its top business tier, around $90 a month as of this writing.
  • Flagged spam here is quarantined where you can see it, and it never counts against your quota.

Pricing, plainly

As of this writing, Formspree's paid plans start around $10 a month and climb through several tiers, with the advanced features concentrated at the top. We keep it to two: free, and $39 for everything — routing rules, webhooks, uploads, and the whole shop with card checkout.

Where Formspree is a fair pick

Formspree has been around for years, has a large catalog of integrations, and ships a first-party React library. If your project leans on one of those integrations specifically, it is a reasonable choice. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise.

Switching takes one line

Because the control fields match, an existing Formspree form keeps working after you swap the endpoint:

<!-- before -->
<form action="https://formspree.io/f/YOUR_ID" method="POST">

<!-- after -->
<form action="https://forms.scrolltheory.media/f/YOUR_FORM_ID" method="POST">

What we do differently

  • Spam is quarantined, never deleted. A flagged submission is stored and shown in a separate view. You can review it and release it in one click. A false positive never costs you a real lead.
  • Spam never touches your quota. Only real submissions count against the monthly cap. A bot flood cannot burn through your plan.
  • Routing rules on the $39 plan. Send sales one place and support another based on what is in the message. Rules can also change the redirect or tag a submission as spam.
  • File uploads on paid plans. Up to 10MB per file and five files per submission, with 50GB of storage on Pro. Files are served back only through your logged-in dashboard.
  • Nothing is lost over the cap. If you go over your monthly limit, email notifications pause but every submission is still stored and waiting in the dashboard.
  • Built on Cloudflare's edge. The endpoint answers from Cloudflare's network, close to your visitor, with no third-party spam service in the middle.

Try it on the free plan

Create a form, point your HTML at the endpoint, and watch submissions land in the dashboard. 100 submissions a month free, no card required.
